What is it/represent?
- It is a Canadian Flag adopted since 1956. It has vertical bicolour triband of red, white and with a maple leaf charged in the centre. Maple leaf is the official national emblem for representing Canada. Maple leaf represents commerce and revenue for Canada and Canadians. The red color represents strength and valor and the white represents purity.
When the First Canadian Flag was officially adopted?
- The first Canadian Flag Officially appeared on February 15, 1965.
Story that goes along with it.
- Before 1965, the Canadian Red Ensign was used in Canada. Canadian Red Ensign features Union flag and the coat of Arms of Canada. In 1964, Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson appointed to change the flag, out of three choices, maple leaf design was selected. Maple Leaf flag was designed by George Stanley and John Matheson based on the flag of the Royal Military College of Canada.
The Canadian Flag represents Canada as a whole,
and ties Canadians together and makes us feel connected as a nation.
